“We need to educate children and young people, so that they understand the dangers of running away and are aware that running away is not always the safest way out. Children can often find it difficult to talk about their problems, but hopefully this pack that has been distributed into schools Cheshire wide will help them out.”

Helen Flanagan

Helen Flanagan

Flanagan has played Rosie since January 2000, at the the 2006 British Soap Awards, Flanagan was nominated for the Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor or Actress. Flanagan was born in Bolton, England. She has a brother named Thomas and two sisters, Jessica and Jayne and a cousin called Claire.

Helen became involved as an ambassador in June 2006 in raising awareness of young runaways after her storyline in Coronation Street followed a similar path.

‘I have a great relationship with my mum and can talk to her about most things, but I know I am really lucky. My character, Rosie doesn’t have such a relationship and it is great that the Talk..Don’t Walk project doesn’t just help the runaway but works with the whole family to try to help them sort out their problems. If you or you know someone who is thinking about running away and they don’t have anyone to talk to, they should call Talk..Don’t Walk’s helpline or visit their website. There are lots of things that can go wrong if you run away from home.”

Co-starring with Sarah Lancashire, Jessica showed that she had the undoubted talent to handle the more demanding and dramatic role of Rusty Dickinson in Back Home (2001) for which she received very good reviews from the critics and held her own in the company of acclaimed actresses such as Rosemary Leach and the wonderful Stephanie Cole.
